Key Responsibilities of the Associate Medical Coder at Optum 2025:
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Performing medical record coding for hospital, regional, and government planning, and accurate hospital reimbursement.
- Coding inpatient and/or outpatient records, diagnosing and procedural daily according to set guidelines.
- Assigning ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes with 93% accuracy in choice and sequencing.
- Identifying and abstracting records consistently and accurately.
- Demonstrating time awareness and reducing non-essential interruptions.
- Meeting departmental productivity standards for coding and entering records.
- Participating in coding meetings and education conferences.
- Demonstrating willingness and flexibility in working additional hours or changing hours.
- Demonstrating thorough understanding of how position impacts the department and hospital.
- Establishing cooperative working relationships with all members of departmental and Hospital staff.
- Attending conference calls as necessary to provide information relating to Coding.
Qualifications:
- Should be a Graduate.
- Certified Fresher/ experience in medical coding or with any other previous experience.
- If experience in Medical Coding, 0-23 (0 to 1 year).
- Must be a certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA.
- Certifications accepted include CPC, CCS, CIC and COC – Anyone.
- All new candidates must have current coding certifications and must provide proof of certification with valid certification identification number during the interview offer process.
